'One of the great challenges in modern winemaking is to consistently produce Burgundian-style Pinot Noir at an affordable price.' Pinot Noir represents the heart and soul of Austin's Wines. Six Pinot clones are planted throughout the vineyard and this mix, combined with the unique terroir and cool climate, has resulted in an award winning Pinot year after year.

In a desire to produce an affordable, fruit-driven, immediate-drinking Pinot Noir, the Sixfootsix label was born in 2003. The quirky name derives from a Geelong folk-hero with a questionable criminal background, William Buckley, who was a giant of a man at six foot six inches tall. The Sixfootsix range includes a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a Shiraz Viognier, all of which are extremely approachable and delicious wines, representing excellent value for money.

Sixfootsix Shiraz-Viognier 2004

Winemaker's notes - Medium-to-ful bodied, sweet, brambly blackberry fruit, with lucious layers of chocolate, licorice and black pepper spice. The touch of Viognier really lifts the intense fruit while softening the tannins to create a silky smooth palate. The complex array of fruit and spice is elegantly underpinned by a nice clean acid structure. A very easy-drinking Shiraz.

Winemaker's notes - Generous, medium-bodied palate with lovely crisp lime and citrus fruit. The excellent depth of fruit is superbly counterbalanced by pronounced, natural acidity which carries the fruit to taut, mouthwateringly dry and crisp finish. Excellent length with lingering lime/citrus flavours.

Austin's Range Ellyse Chardonnay 2004

Winemaker's notes - Medium-bodied; lovely cool climate Chardonnay with real flavour intensity. Mouth-filling flavours of white peaches and nectarines are beautifully supported by a creamy butterscotch, spicy, vanillin oak and fine, citrus acidity. The finish is crisp and fresh, with lingering citrus. Fermented on solids using indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak for 18 months.

Winemaker's notes - Mulberry fruit, along with spice and ground white pepper. Hints of cedar and vanilla. Generous mouthfeel, medium to full bodied wine showing softness on mid palate. An elegant style.
