Domaine Simon Bize
The Domaine has a reputation for producing wines which consistently punch above their weight and they are some of the best value in the Côte d'Or.
Patrick Bize was on fine form when we visited to taste his 2010s and he was clearly very happy with the quality of the vintage. The Domaine has a reputation for producing wines which consistently punch above their weight and they are some of the best value in the Côtes d'Or. We have followed the wines for the last 25 years but the estate dates back to the 1860's. The vines are generally old and the yields are low and with Patrick in charge the Domaine fully deserves its reputation as Savigny's leading producer. Patrick uses traditional methods in the cellar, avoids over extracting and is careful not to over oak his wines in order to preserve the inherent elegance and balance of the fruit in his wines. Tasting the 2010s from barrel to barrel, we were impressed by the elegance and freshness of the whites and the wonderful purity of fruit and definition in the reds.

| Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru |
£1,050.00 |

Consistently one of the finest examples from this vineyard, since Patrick's purchase in 1995, the 2010 seems to have reached another level of complexity. The nose bursts with bright redcurrants and raspberry fruit characters, with a hint of bramble apple, while the palate shows incredible energy and freshness, with juicy, mouthfilling and crunchy tannins - "croquant" but also very complete and elegant. Drink from 2017.
