Coutet 2005, 1ière cru Barsac

Rich, hearty and very satisfying with a wonderful vibrancy to match. Masses of ripe citrus and pineapples rule the day. Finishes with the promise of a very long life! – armit 17 points

Price per case In Bond                                                £290

Intense aromas of honey, spice and candied lemons. Full-bodied, very sweet and dense, with a syrupy mouthfeel and a long finish. This is very concentrated. Almost classic quality. - James Suckling, winespectator.com 92-94 points

Hint of bronze, blossomy on the nose. Very full and intense and has absolutely MASSES of weight. Unmissable. You could slice this in two. Most impressive. This should live for almost ever. Very neat finish. Acidity well hidden. Drink 2018–35 - Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com 19 points

Doisy-Védrines, 2ième cru Barsac

What a lovely range of bright, rich inviting fruits. Apples, pears and honeyed peaches abound. Balanced, unctuous and smooth. A very fine 2005.– armit 16.5 points

Price per case In Bond                                                £195

Dried pineapples with honey and flowers. Full-bodied and medium-sweet, with fresh acidity and a spicy finish. - James Suckling, winespectator.com 89-91 points

Some sulfides on the nose suppress the aromas. Very, very sweet palate entry and then lime green fruit sensation. Lots here – a very ambitious wine that is nowhere near ready. Needs lots of time. Drink 2018–30 - Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com 17 points

Rieussec 2005, 1ière cru Sauternes

A subtle and alluring array of flavours that are rather shy at the moment but are brimming below the surface. Has the density, richness and weight of fruit for ageing and boasts outstanding balance. Very impressive and once again amongst the very best. – armit 18 points

Price per case In Bond                                                £410

Loads of spicy honey and apple character. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with a solid core of fruit and lots of botrytis character. Very racy. Not the 2001 but superb. - James Suckling, winespectator.com 95-100 points

Coppery. Diffuse rather toasty nose. Very very sweet but with enormous acidity too and depth. Toasty, almost burnt, a very strong expression with some depth though the sweetness is such that it easily masks everything else at this stage. Drink 2017–30 - Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com 18 points

Suduiraut 2005, 1ière cru Sauternes

Wonderfully rich honeyed oranges, peaches and grapefruits finely balanced with elegantly floral notes. Rich and waxy on the palate with a fine energetic acidity. Great balance and length. Very beautiful.– armit 17 points

Price per case In Bond                                                £400 SOLD OUT

Loads of pear and honey character follow through to a full-bodied palate, with lots of spicy character and a sweet, long finish. Very, very spicy on the finish. Better than 2003, but will it ultimately be better than 2001? - James Suckling, winespectator.com 95-100 points

Greenish notes in the gold. Dense and nutty on the nose. Very positive palate impact and attack. Layers of flavour – a little note of brûlée but interesting. Very well done. Really zesty acidity as well as neat and satisfying sweetness even if this is far from the sweetest wine of the vintage. Brisk and neat. - Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com 18+ points

d'Yquem 2005, Grand 1ière cru Sauternes

Floral, lemon, apple and cream with dried pineapple and apricot. Full-bodied, but very focused and refined. It starts slowly and then, wham! It goes on and on. Spicy, dried fruits and spices. Full-bodied, medium-sweet. So long and exciting. Incredible. It is very close to 2001. We will see. - James Suckling, winespectator.com 95-100 points

Yield of 12 hl/ha – almost record high levels! Quite deep gold. Wonderfully deep nose – never smelt anything as intense and glorious as this! Extraordinary!!! Deep yet lively. Exciting depth of pear juice and zest – tangerine peel too. Great astringency. 2001 was more concentrated. This is more transparent. Lovely dancing stuff, but already in the super-nuanced Yquem idiom. Lighter than some vintages but with great lacy complexity. Wonderful green, lively notes and some real explosiveness – 13.5 per cent. Energy drink! Coiled like a taut spring. Drink 2015–50 - Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com 20 points
