Didier Darviot is a perfectionist who makes no compromise whatsoever in his goal to make the best wines possible. When the Domaine was established in 1989 with his wife Geneviève, they created one of the few Domaines to have vines in the three most important 1er Cru vineyards of Meursault; Perrières, Genevrières and Charmes. They also have vines in Chassagne 1er Cru Blanchots Dessus the "mini-montrachet" sitting just below the famous Grand Cru. The wines are focused and pure and tastings with the Perrins are always a great pleasure. The Domaine has a high average vine age which combined with hard pruning and meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard expresses itself with incredible freshness and persistence in the 2010s. The wines also have a powerful mineral definition which expresses the terroir beautifully. There is a quiet confidence about these elegant wines which is impressive.

Meursault Clos de la Velle 6 bottles £155.00
A classic Meursault with expansive citrus and stone fruit characters which open out in the glass. Underlying this is a zippy, crushed oyster shell character. On the palate the fruit is soft, pure and lively with some gentle floral notes balanced by an energetic acidity. The finish is delineated and refreshing. Drink from release.

Richer and fuller on the palate than the Clos de la Velle, the Tessons has a wonderful bouquet of spring flowers, fresh green apples and subtle notes of brioche. The palate is bursting with mouthwatering green, citrus fruits and has great persistence, freshness and tension, reflecting the relatively cool position of this rocky vineyard further up the hill. Drink from 2013.

Powerful and ripe with zesty grapefruit and lemon notes on the nose but with a tight mineral restraint which is holding everything in check. The palate is full of ripe citric fruits balanced by a nervy tension and a lively mineral note while a mouthwatering, salty tang on the finish adds complexity. Drink from 2013.

Very pure and bright with warm, citrus fruits, an elegant floral character and just a hint of spicy brioche. The palate is lively and intense with lighter citrus notes in the foreground, balanced by a vibrant mineral note of crushed oyster shells. There is magnificent power and depth here, and also wonderful fluidity and nerve which suggests great potential. Drink from 2014.

A persistent and vigorous wine with a bright aroma of citric summer fruits and a mouthwatering palate of ripe, yet invigorating lemon and stone fruit flavours. There is a slightly salty, mineral tang again on the finish which adds to the length and complexity of this wine. Drink from 2014.

Made from 40 year old vines, this richly flavoured, complex wine is bursting with ripe, invigorating citrus and sweet green apple fruits.
