Domaine Burgaud

Bernard Burgaud states it very simply - he makes one cuvée because he can then afford 100% of his time and attention to this wine. He uses minimal amounts of new oak so as not to overcome the character of the grape and terroir and fully destems all his grapes to avoid green notes in the finished wine. The results speak for themselves, Burgauds Cote Rotie is one of purest around - wonderfully structured, bursting with wild Cote Rotie fruit.

Côte Rôtie 2005

Inky black, intense, tightly-packed red berry fruits. Pure, driven, almost larger than life. With smaller berries in 2005 Burgauds Cote Rotie boasts more concentration and flesh than other vintages. Superb potential. Great things come to those who wait.. Drink from 2015.

"Inky ruby. Deep, rich nose offers powerful kirsch, raspberry and dark chocolate aromas. Strikingly pure, with sweet dark berry flavors and an impressively supple texture, but with lively acidity helping to maintain focus ("that's a characteristic of the vintage," Burgaud notes, "good acidity and velvety texture.").
