Domaine Fourrier
Anyone lucky enough to find their way to a few bottles of his 2010s will have many treats in store in the future.
Jean-Marie Fourrier calls 2010 a "fantastic vintage with 100% millerandage" leading to yields being down here by around 40%. He fears that many customers will inevitably be disappointed by the drop in volumes but the good news is that he has now started a négociant operation which should alleviate some of the pressure. The bad news though is that you will have to wait at least another year until the wine is available! But back to the present, and Jean-Marie noted that the cold weather at flowering had been the key determinant to the vintage early on. The long cool summer meant a slow, even ripening and with acidity high, similar to the 2008s, he found plenty of freshness in the wines together with a crystalline quality to the fruit; pure and silky and with high potential. Picking commenced on 25th September and the wines have perfect balance between the structure and the freshness. There is little that hasn't already been said about Jean-Marie and anyone lucky enough to find their way to a few bottles of his 2010s will have many treats in store in the future.

| Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru |
3 bottles £325.00 |

Often a wine that does not strut its stuff from barrel, the 2010 certainly fanned out its peacock's tail for us, showing dark cherry, delicate licquorice, a little spice and a layered creamy texture with a wonderful lingering finish. Totally impossible not to adore but sadly almost impossible to obtain. Certainly the reference point in this vineyard and one of the great wines of Burgundy. Drink from 2017.
