Gaia also visited the following places:
One of the wine world’s many venerable winemaking dynasties, the Gaja family is steeped in tradition with a passion for making the very best wines from superlative terroirs.
Building on the foundations laid in 1859 when Giovanni Gaja first settled in Piedmont in northwest Italy, successive generations of the Gaja family have sought nothing but perfection. They have stepped beyond the boundaries of local wine making tradition where necessary. It is fortunate for wine lovers that they are Italian, for it is in Italy where breaking the rules is possible; indeed there is a structure specifically to allow it.
Today there are three Gaja family estates. In Piedmont, where it all began, the Gajas create breathtaking Barbaresco and Barolo wines from the Nebbiolo grape, and remarkable white wines. From Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino comes Gaja Brunello and from near the town of Bolgheri, close to Sassicaia and Ornellaia, is the newest example of Gaja creativity and vision – Ca’Marcanda – making Bordeaux style wine with Italian fl air predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. All exhibit the characteristic hallmark of power with sophisticated elegance that marks Gaja apart.
For armit this day will be a culmination of activity throughout September. We are delighted to be working with a number of hotels and restaurants to provide Gaja wines by the glass as well as specially created dishes for the week.
Retailers in the UK will be promoting Gaja wines and competing for the best window display or promotion.
Sensational one-off deals will be publicised via Twitter on the day.
We are delighted that L'Anima, Mennula, Bistro du Vin and The Gilbert Scott will be offering specially created dishes and wine offers along with promotions running at Roberson, Vagabond and Sipp,
The armit sales team will be out in force taking Gaia Gaja from restaurant to restaurant and to every London based wholesaler participating in the promotion. Back at the armit offices, the rest of the team will be keeping you up to date with offers, restaurant deals and all things Gaja!
Follow us on Twitter to receive these offers and ensure you don’t miss out! Also keep an eye on our website to see the latest list of participating restaurants.
