Domaine Guy Roulot
Absolutely fabulous. It is all too easy to become accustomed to excellence when you taste at Domaine Roulot. One of our favourites in 2004, the comparison between the two vintages in the years to come will be fascinating to follow. The style here is just as we like it- pure, precise, energetic and mineral with incredible finesse and elegance. What Jean-Marc manages to coax out of the lieu-dits is nothing short of astonishing whilst the premier crus leave you just gasping for words. As you can tell, we rather like them and would be amazed if there are any left by the time you finish this paragraph, so be quick!

Meursault Vireuils 2005
Situated on a north eastern slope that benefitted from the extra warmth and light afforded by the vintage. The thin soils lend it its overtly mineral and nervy character, but this year there was an extra degree of softness and generosity, even a hint of creaminess. Drink from 2009.

Situated high up on the south eastern facing slopes this proffers a tingly minerality and ripe lemon fruit melange. Subtle touch of bees wax and a real energy and finesse. Drink from 2009.

East-northeast exposure on a cool stony soil, the nose offers a whiff of gunflint, a prickle of gingery lemongrass and a twist of orange peel. Poetic and promising. Drink from 2009.

East mid slopes on a deeper, warmer soil , the extra weight and intensity is evident here, with a substantial sense of presence. Genuinely complex, exuding notes of exotic spices and eastern promise. Drink from 2009.

Meursault 1er Cru Bouchères 2005
A terrific site on the east facing slopes next to Goutte d'Or and Poruzots. The extra ripeness is in evidence with its golden fruit, candied lemon and fresh almond. The class of a 1er Cru shines through - restrained, refined and intense. Almost ample but still has the trademark precision. Drink from 2010.

Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2005
Jean-Marc remembers small, perfectly formed golden grapes hanging on the sixty year old vines. Inspiring and sublime, this wine is a fantastic achievement. Wonderfully ripe, soft fruit literally dance across the palate. The length on the finish promises great things. Drink from 2010.

East-southeast exposure, this Perrières is a tightly coiled bundle of energy. The length and intensity of this wine is simply phenomenal. A complex melange of grapefruit, fig and roses. A candidate for legendary status. Drink from 2012.
