Domaine Jean Grivot - 2005 En Primeur
Etienne Grivot, helicopter pilot and vigneron extraordinaire, is a big fan of 2005, rating it with the “same register of potential as 1996, 1999 and 2002”. Stylistically, he thinks that he has “never seen such a brilliant combination of fruit, acidity, definition and staying power” and when tasting through his range, it was hard to disagree. One of his little secrets is to pick his Vosne a little earlier than most, and certainly before his Nuits, as he wishes above all else to keep the freshness as only then will the typicity of the vineyards shine through. This is an exemplary line-up from an established star and it is a pure delight to be able to offer his wines.

Red Wines
Vosne Romanée 2005
Produced from a blend of three parcels of Vosne, Etienne likes to pick his Vosne early to lock in extra freshness. This is structured yet silky, with savoury, black fruit notes and a hint of smoke. Leagues ahead of most village Vosne. Drink from 2009.

Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots 2005
Its situation on the Vosne-Romanée side of the village results in a more elegant style of Nuits. Excitable, high-toned and really very smart. Wonderfully ripe black fruits of the forest. Fleshy but feminine with a lovely presence on the finish. Drink from 2009.
Price per case in bond £450 - SOLD OUT
Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Brûlées 2005
Sublime. From the south eastern facing slopes this is super elegant, yet with plenty of rich, ripe dense black fruits. Fantastic texture, presence and style. One of the stars of 2005. Drink from 2010.
Price per case in bond £450 - SOLD OUT
Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Beaux Monts 2005
Wonderfully silky, rich ripe black cherry fruit, chocolate and earth. So long, full and fine on the palate. Pure and understated. Outstanding. Drink from 2010.
Price per case in bond £460 - SOLD OUT
Echézeaux Grand Cru 2005
Ample, full and elegant. Wonderfully complete and complex already with hints of fleshy black fruit, licquorice and spice. A fabulous ripeness fills the palate and clearly has no intention of fading. This wine is here to stay. Drink from 2011.
Price per case in bond £700 - SOLD OUT
Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2005
Etienne explained that his Clos de Vougeot always seems to perform best in drier years, perhaps due to the deeper soils in his section of the vineyard. This is so expressive already, really concentrated and tightly packed with red and black berry fruit, hints of brioche, wet stones and grainy tannins. Quite a powerhouse. Excellent. Drink from 2012.
