Ogier

Domaine Ogier

Stéphane Ogier took over the reins of the Domaine in the 1990's and has prided himself on continuing and developing upon his father's hard work. Stéphane's passion and dedication is obvious in the extensive array of wines and styles that he is producing. He chooses to vinify a number of cuvées separately in order to highlight the potential of outstanding plots of land in the Domaine.

Red Wines

Syrah La Rosine, Vin de Pays de Collines Rhodaniennes 2005

Worthy to align itself with some of the prestigious wines of the Northern Rhône, this Syrah is fragrant, elegant but with a warm, rich ripe dark fruit middle enjoyed by many wines in the 2005 vintage. Drink from 2008.

ogier côte Rôtie

Côte Rôtie 2005

Quite a change in style from the purist Burgaud Cote Rotie, this exudes warm ripe black cherry notes with a hint of pepper and paprika. So long on the finish. Really stylish stuff. Drink from 2010.

"Dark purple. Highly aromatic nose of spicy raspberry and cherry, scented with exotic gingerbread and dried violet. The bright redcurrant and strawberry flavors are focused, firm and deep. This lovely wine has an excellent fruit/acid balance and finishes silky and suave, with a fine dusting of tannins." - 91-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Côte Rôtie Cuvée Belle Hélène 2005

Produced in miniscule quantities, I think we spotted two barrels in the cellar, this is produced from the oldest vines in the Domaine and exudes warm ripe blueberry fruit, chocolate, kir and toast. Verging on hedonistic but with no lack of structure. Sure to snapped up in no time. Drink from 2012.

Inky ruby. Deep kirsch and blackberry aromas perked up by a pungent floral quality. Suave, velvety and sweet, with deep dark fruit flavors, a rich texture and round tannins. The finish offers breathtaking persistence of dark berry flavors. This is made from the estate's oldest vines in Cote-Rozier; just over a third of the stems were retained. - 93-96 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
