Pascal Lachaux at Domaine Robert Arnoux - 2005 En Primeur
Pascal continues to source tiny quantities of fruit and grape must from some of the greatest vineyards on the Côte. Given that Domaine Arnoux is of a fair size, taking on extra work with such complex wines would overwhelm many but to Pascal, it is sheer pleasure to be able to put his name to wines of this stature and he is only frustrated that they are so hard to come by. We were completely taken by our tasting of Pascal’s wines and had no hesitation in taking every last case offered. Given that his prices verge on the generous side of reasonable, this is a wonderful opportunity to acquire some of the great names of Burgundy without suffering a serious financial haemorrhage.

Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses 2005
Just the one barrel but what a wine! This is firm, precise and fresh but with so much energy and the most gorgeous raspberry fruit. This manages to be both pretty and serious and is genuinely fine. Drink from 2010.

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2005
A more robust style, the tannin here contributes real grip and bite whilst the fruit is pure, fresh blackberry and apple. Definitely one for hearty fare. Drink from 2011.

Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2005
A black forest fruit compôte but with the trademark minerality of Bonnes-Mares running through it. Pascal has crafted this in a fresh, friendly and approchable style but still maintains the sense of sheer quality and class. Terrific. Drink from 2012.

Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2005
A really complete wine with all of the sturdiness and presence of Chambertin but the subtlety and elegance that are the hallmarks of the Clos de Bèze. A scent of rose and black fruits and a really intriguing and incredibly persistant finish. Totally consuming and so much more to come. Drink from 2012.
Price per case in bond £395 per 6 bottles - SOLD OUT
Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru 2005
The peacock's tail on display. A lovely array of textures, shades and an element of showiness but somehow knowing when to hold back. Pure, energetic and tremendously stylish, this shows all the complexity of this great terroir in the gentle hands of an artist. Drink from 2012.
