Robert Niero, a former banker, has built a small domaine from the vineyards on his wife’s side plus some more recent additions. Fortunately for him, they include some of the top plots in Condrieu which he now chooses to vinify separately. Always a favourite with the armit tasting team, Robert Niero continues to produce some of the most seductive Condrieus of the region.

Condrieu Les Ravines 2005

Fermented in stainless steel and one third aged in wood over nine months, this exudes warm, ripe notes of apricot, spice and lightest hint of minerality coupled with fine fresh acid backbone. Enveloping. Delicious. Drink from release.

Condrieu Coteau du Chery 2005

Wonderful presence, poise and character. Produced from vines planted on the most renowned hillside of Condrieu, this cuvée exudes ripe, inviting lychee fruit, floral notes and a fine mineral backbone. Great length and promise. Drink from 2008.

Côte Rôtie 2005

Produced from a blend of two parcels, this Cote Rotie combines broody, smoky savoury notes with bright, energetic red crunchy fruit. Dark, smoky poker room player meets pristine, pure convent type. Superb.
