Domaine Simon Bize - 2005 En Primeur
Patrick Bize’s wines are well known to most of our customers and we continue to believe in them wholeheartedly. It is an opinion shared by many respected voices in the Côte d’Or: it was intriguing to see Anne-Claude Leflaive’s broad smile on tasting Patrick’s wines and to understand that Christophe Roumier helps to tend Patrick’s Latricières in return for Patrick’s magic touch on his Corton-Charlemagne. The 2005s here are a wonderful range- full of energy, with fresh, ripe and precise fruit and a gentle, elegant touch. The whites will drink well early but with no lack of staying power whilst the reds will be equally delicious in their youth but could eventually make for some of Patrick’s greatest ever bottles.

Bourgogne Blanc Perrières 2005
Fabulously light and refreshing, with lovely notes of ripe, fleshy fruit but more grown-up than many a Bourgogne Blanc. Drink from release.

Savigny Lès Beaune Blanc 2005
Harmonious, lush ripe fruit with a hint of spice and a gentle floral note that hangs in the air. Delicious Savigny that will drink well young. Drink from 2007.

Savigny Lès Beaune Blanc 1er Cru Vergelesses 2005
Warm, inviting ripe fruit notes, with a fine freshness that keeps the wine in check. Will drink well young thanks to the forward fruit but energy and length on the finish suggest a promising life. Drink from 2008.

Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru 2005
Stunning, rich, ripe, generous wine, a mix of minerality and crème caramel. Opulent, intense and vigourous. Drink from 2012.

Bourgogne Rouge Perrières 2005
A very relaxed style, exuding a sweet mélange of red cherries and a certain gaminess. Very pure. Drink from release.

Savigny Lès Beaune Grands Liards 2005
This really sang at our tasting chez Bize - wonderfully open and inviting now with notes of freshly crushed red fruits and fine tannins. Lovely persistance on the finish. Drink from 2008

Savigny Lès Beaune 1er Cru Marconnets 2005
Superb. Delicious aromas of black cherries and liqourice that follow through onto the palate where they meet a leathery note. Quite a dark, wild personality with great persistance on the finish. Drink from 2009.
Price per case in bond £220 - SOLD OUT
Savigny Lès Beaune 1er Cru Vergelesses 2005
The purity of fruit is remarkable. Not at all a showy wine, this is finely restrained. Intense, long finish that intimates a long life. Just what great Burgundy should promise. Drink from 2010

Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru 2005
Quite a step up in structure and concentration, a real change of gear after the elegant Savigny. This has a fine, muscular body with a brooding wild, almost animal finish. Intense, serious, will require time in bottle. Drink from 2012.
Price per case in bond £850 - SOLD OUT
