Romain Taupenot has transformed his family Domaine over the last few years into one of the best up and coming estates on the Côte…
…and his 2010s will undoubtedly attract further acclaim. Romain described the vintage as one he "really enjoyed making", citing the balance of aromatics, fruit, acidity and fine tannins as a challenge he relished. Grapes were fully de-stemmed before vinification and pressed only lightly to avoid over-extraction, the small, thick skinned berries being naturally rich in colour and tannin. Romain uses oak judiciously and the majority of the 2010s saw time in only older barrels to allow the purity of the vintage to shine through.

Gevrey Chambertin £295.00
A wine with lovely, lifted aromatics. Sweet purple berry notes mingle with cloves and cracked pepper spice notes. The palate is full of raspberry and blueberry fruit flavours with fine, rounded tannins. This wine will be delicious over the next few years. Drink from release.

A fine, elegant style with sweet damson and plum characters on the nose with a fine mineral note in the background and a hint of savoury and lavender. The palate is very refined with a pure and refreshing fruit character. Drink from 2014.
Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru La Riotte £465.00
From vines with an average age of 54 years, some of which were planted as far back as 1937. Lifted and wonderfully aromatic on the nose with lavender and violets floating over plenty of red berry fruit and some soft clove and pepper notes. The palate flows with more fragrant violet flavours, rounded red and black berry fruit and a confident tannic structure. This has an excellent balance and real depth and should age magnificently. Drink from 2015.
Nuits St George 1er Cru Les Pruliers £475.00
This is a powerful structured wine with great intensity and depth. Dark savoury aromas with herbs, dried fruits and grilled savoury characters follow through to a palate which is packed full of sweet red berry fruits, balanced by masculine tannins. This is an impressive wine which has the capacity to age very well. Drink 2017
Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau £525.00 Sold Out
From vines averaging 94 years old, this wine combines power and finesse and has excellent definition. Textured tannins give an almost chocolaty character to the wine and melt away in the mouth, integrating seamlessly with the sweet, delicate strawberry and redcurrant fruit. Drink from 2014.
Corton Rognet Grand Cru £550.00 Sold Out
A deeply flavoured, structured wine which is also extremely elegant. Described by Romain as the "best Corton Rognet he has ever made" the nose is full of dense blackcurrant and blueberry fruit characters while the palate is rich and dense with lovely, plump wild berry and dark cassis flavours. This is all supported by firm tannins and a refined mineral note on the finish which is extremely refined and satisfying. Drink from 2015.
Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru £750.00 Sold Out
There is lovely ripeness on the nose with notes of mint, gorse and wild herbs, with hints of exotic spice. The palate is bold and punchy with sumptuous fruit and full, round tannins. This is a confident and ultimately very appealing wine. Drink from 2015.
Mazoyères Chambertin Grand Cru £795.00 Sold Out
A very impressive wine which manages to combine power and opulence with great elegance and freshness. On the nose, dark, sweet fruits mingle with exotic spices and a seasoning of black pepper. The palate is sumptuous and dense revealing layers of succulent, pure red berry fruit as it opens. Smooth, velvety tannins fill the mouth. Drink from 2016.
