Domaine Anne & Hervé Sigaut - 2006 En Primeur

The wines of Domaine Sigaut were a late but extremely welcome addition to our 2005 offer. This is a small domaine, tucked away at the edge of the village which has undergone a transformation with Anne & Hervé upgrading every aspect of operations with electrifying success. The wines are silky and fragrant, as you would expect in Chambolle and in 2006, it is the quality and purity of the fruit and the finesse of the wines that are the key characteristics. These wines are definitely ones to watch and represent outstanding value at this quality level.

Red Wines

Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Noirots 2006

Tight on the nose and palate with touches of earth and oatmeal. A finely grained tannic structure and a lovely crisp and mineral finish lifts the wine - this needs 3 or 4 years in bottle to show of its best. Drink from 2009. - armit

This is quite ripe, indeed surprisingly so for the vintage with an appealing mix of red, blue and violet notes that introduce rich, sweet and admirably voluminous flavors are attractively textured and detailed, all wrapped in a firm, balanced and energetic finish. Lovely. 2012+ - 88-91 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound #29, Jan. 2008

Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Fuées 2006

A deeper colour here with more toasty, creamy notes. On the palate there is similar lilting crushed red fruits and lifted acidity but the wine enjoys a bigger structure and more mineral notes. Really quite fleshy without losing any of the Chambolle femininity and charm. Drink from 2010. - armit

A slightly more deeply pitched nose of blue berry and violet aromas laced liberally with obvious mineral notes that are picked up by the detailed, balanced and tautly muscled middle weight flavors that exude a controlled power and excellent length. This is a touch leaner but the class of the terroir is evident. 2013+ - 89-91 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound #29, Jan. 2008

Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Chatelots 2006

Very mineral and refined on the nose with dissolved tannins and impressive length and intensity. Black cherry and raspberry fruit with a gentle creaminess. The most closed of the Chambolles at present but with real potential. Drink from 2009. - armit

An airy, elegant and very pure nose of red pinot fruit nuanced by hints of crushed herb and warm earth merges into refined and very Chambolle flavors that are an exercise in delicacy and finesse that culminate in a beautifully balanced and persistent finish. This is unusually deep for a Chatelots and should offer 5 to 8 years of upside development. Recommended. 2012+ - 89-92 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound #29, Jan. 2008

Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Sentiers 2006

Lovely pure primary Pinot nose of dogrose and red berries. Mineral entry on the palate and bundles of racy forest fruits with hints of cinnamon spice. Refreshing acidity and mineral intensity really lifts the finish - a suave and elegant wine. Drink from 2010. - armit

Here the nose is brooding and much more deeply pitched with lower register aromas of blue and black berry that complement the rich, delicious and complex flavors that are mineral-infused and impeccably balanced and if not quite as intense as the Chatelots, it certainly doesn’t lack for energy or punch. Like a smaller-scaled Bonnes Mares. 2012+ - 89-91 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound #29, Jan. 2008
