Introduction to Hungary

A country boasting a wealth of indigenous grape varieties, Hungary has a history in winemaking, dating back to Roman times. About 70% of the total production is white, with a wide range of international varieties being introduced, with a strong bias towards varietal labelling. The worldfamous sweet white wine, Tokaji, is produced in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region in the North-East of the country.
