California is North America?s most important wine region, producing over 90% of the total wine production of USA. Loosely divided into North Coast, South Coast, Central Coast and the Central Valley, which also comprises the Sierra Foothills, the best known quality regions are Napa and Sonoma. Although the big brands haven?t gone away, there are today many other very small, niche, premium vineyards producing outstanding individual wines.
