domaine des clos - burgundy 2006

Domaine des Clos - 2006 En Primeur

Grégoire Bichot has crafted a lovely set of wines in a vintage that he thinks will prove to be soft and easy drinking. Inititally, he said, it reminded him of 1989 but as it has evolved he is not so sure and in many ways finds the vintage rather unique. He recommends drinking it young and on the fruit and apologises that his volumes are down by 15%. We are confident that his growing army of admirers will adore the purity and honesty of these wines, not to mention their prices.

Red Wines

Beaune Grèves 1er Cru 2006

The Grèves always shows a more brawny, earthy character even in a fruit-driven vintage like 2006. There is definitely extra grip and muscle here and an added sense of seriousness perhaps but it is freshness and vigour that are also at the forefront. Drink from 2009.

Beaune Vieilles Vignes 2006

Pure raspberry fruit with obvious freshness and an easy balance. This is supple, fruit-driven and with an attractive fleshiness. Drink from release.

Price per case DP          £280 - add to basket

Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Crots 2006

Rich pastille fruit on the nose and a controlled spiciness. This is ample and with fine quality material, especially the finely grained tannins. The extra structure is also apparent but with the fruit as naturally rich as this, there is plenty to offer to those for whom patience is hard to find. Drink from 2009.
