Domaine des Clos 2007 wines en primeur

Domaine des Clos 2007

Burgundy 2007 En Primeur

The harvest at Domaine des Clos was also a stop-start affair, extending over a three week period. The challenges of the growing season have tested Grégoire to the limit but he has come through it with a small volume of fine, expressive wines that will give a lot of pleasure.

All wines are sold En Primeur and prices are quoted In Bond.

Red

Beaune Vieilles Vignes 2007

A nose of redcurrant liqueur with bright, attractive primary notes and plenty of vigour. Tannins are light and supple and there is good depth of material and simple, straightforward honest delivery. Excellent value, as always. Drink from release. - armit

Ready for bottling. Sweet and a little stewed on the nose. Dry tannins bring it to rather an abrupt end. Drink 2010-12 - 15 points, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, 26rd January 2009

£155.00 per 12 (IB) – SOLD OUT

Beaune 1er Cru Grèves 2007

Lovely deep colours, this is crisp and crunchy on the palate with a more mineral expression and a simple red cherry fruit. The wine builds on the palate, with rounded tannins and scale and ambition alongside its direct delivery. The finish is fresh and nicely balanced. Drink from 2010. - armit

Lots of fruit and correct by the appellation though duller and les intense than many. Pretty grainy. Drink 2011-14 - 16 points, Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com, 26rd January 2009

£220.00 per 12 (IB) – SOLD OUT

Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Crots 2007

Dark bramble and mint fruit on the nose, this is glossy and expressive and very fresh. There is purity and richness running through the wine with plenty of rigour behind. A highly impressive wine that punches well above its weight. Drink from 2011. - armit

Ready for bottling. Plummy fruit and fresher than their Beaune. Sweet spice overlay. A bit of chew from the tannins but fleshed out by the dark fruit. Juicy and fresh with lots of flavour, just a little but rustic overall. Drink 2010-14 - 16 points, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, 26rd January 2009

£265.00 per 12 (IB) – SOLD OUT

2007 vintage report

Prices for Beaune and Beaune 1er Cru in particular remain well behind those of the bigger red villages of the Côte d’Or, a fact not lost on a number of growers who are eyeing up land here. Grégoire is ahead of the game and with every year, this most conscientious of vignerons is unlocking the undoubted qualities of this overlooked sector of the Côte.
