Domaine Etienne Sauzet - 2006 En Primeur Gérard Boudot was in confident mood and there is no doubting another great performance at Sauzet this year. Gérard started harvesting on 18th September and despite a little botrytis, his crop was in very good condition. He considers it a very, very good year and his own theory it that he sees the same parallel of 1985 and 1986 repeated in 2005 and 2006. All prices are quoted In Bond unless otherwise stated back to main Burgundy 2006 page White Wines Puligny Montrachet 2006 A tight, more floral nose with lively citric and mineral entry on the palate and energetic stonefruit and citric qualities. Lovely nuances of spice and perfect balance and long finish - exemplary Puligny. Drink from 2009. Price per case in bond £285 - SOLD OUT Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Perrières 2006 Lifted notes of coconut and cinnamon combine with a very ripe, rich palate that is also precise and multi-layered. Real weight and a broad mouth feel, with exotic fruit flavours - hints of mango and passion fruit. Lovely long, energetic, mineral finish. Drink from 2009. Price per case in bond £450 - SOLD OUT Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet 2006 A touch of almonds evident on the nose. Ripe style with underlying steel and nuances of marzipan and nectarine. Long, lively wine with subtle mineral touches. Great potential. Drink from 2010. Price per case in bond £500 - SOLD OUT Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières 2006 A shy nose but more explosive on the palate – a lovely kernel of sweet stonefruits and minerals, this is really powerful and sinewy. A little suppressed at the moment but the sheer intensity, energy and length is impressive - a racehorse in the stalls so to speak. Drink from 2010. Price per case in bond £520 - add to basket Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Combettes 2006 Beautiful lifted floral nose, with touches of white peach. Really dry entry, with intense mineral notes and taut citric fruit qualities. Intense, layered, refined and very pure. Racy long finish - a belter. Drink from 2010. Price per case in bond £675 - SOLD OUT Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 A very pure nose of honey and flowers. Smooth, rich and creamy on the palate with loads of stonefruits and firm, fresh acid grip. Lingering and exuberant, this dances on the tongue. Plenty of concentration, style and intensity - a very fine wine indeed. Drink from 2011. Price per case in bond £640 per 6 - SOLD OUT Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 An expressive nose for Grand Cru with lifted mineral and honey notes. Intensely mineral entry, again honeyed with sage-apple qualities. Layered, rich and full-bodied - a big but balanced and punchy style - very Bâtard in this regard. Lovely pure and finely mineral finish. Drink from 2011. Price per case in bond £650 per 6 - SOLD OUT Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 Incredible mineral and floral intensity on the nose, with notes of honey. Super-saturated apricot fruit palate entry - remarkably elegant with vital energy and bold stonefruit flavours. A long, long totally pure finish - ethereal touches. Drink from 2012. Price per case in bond £795 per 6 - SOLD OUT Le Montrachet Grand Cru 2006 From the Chassagne side of the Grand Cru, this was showing less expressively on the nose than the Chevalier. On the palate an explosion of honeyed fruit, with a rich, intense glycerol mouth feel. Very rich and full-bodied, what a counterpoise to the Chevalier! The finish just goes on and on with haunting honey and mineral notes. Drink from 2012. Price per case in bond £1,500 per 6 - SOLD OUT |
