Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot - 2006 En Primeur Jean-Marc Boillot has a very simple philosophy: “My biggest reward is to see empty bottles rather than All prices are quoted Duty Paid (DP) unless otherwise stated. For Bonded purchases, please use Advanced Search White Wines Montagny 1er Cru 2006 Delicious, clean apricot fruit, lightly creamy and with a gentle flowing style. A sprinkling of minerals leads to a long zesty finish This is extremely versatile and will drink well from the off. Quite simply the best Montagny that we have tasted. Drink from release. A pretty and rather floral nose nuanced by hints of straw and citrus leads to round but lively middle weight flavors that retain a good sense of vibrancy as well as a subtle touch of minerality. The acidity is clearly in evidence and while not aggressive, it is not shy so this will best please those who enjoy distinct acid punch in their whites. 2010+ - 87 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound Price per case DP £170.70 - add to basket Rully 1er Cru Grésigny 2006 Ripe peach and banana fruit but combining with a lifted citric note. This is distinct and confident with a floral, honeysuckle nose and a clear sense of direction. Minerality asserts itself on the finish. Very impressive and wonderful value. Drink from release. Price per case DP £183.75 - add to basket St Aubin 1er Cru Sous le Roch Dumay 2006 A little known premier cru on south-facing slopes above the Dents de Chien, this has benefited from the extra warmth as is seen in the ripe citric fruits but also the elevation which has encouraged the cool, crisp bite. Creamy texture underpinned by a spine of firm acidity and lively nectarine fruit. Another assertive wine that will give immediate pleasure with a cool and vital feel on the finish. Drink from release. Price per case in bond £135.00 - SOLD OUT Meursault Vireuils 2006 A new addition from Jean-Marc this year, Vireuils is a terrific vineyard, high up next to Tillets and renowned for its minerality. This is virile, expressive and inviting and surprisingly fleshy without ever losing its inherent freshness and elegance. Another cracker. Drink from 2009. Price per case DP £343.68 - add to basket Puligny Montrachet 2006 Elegant floral, honeysuckle nose - really rich and vibrant palate with bundles of stonefruits and nuances of crème brûlée. A weighty, fruity Puligny supported by crisp acidity and mineral notes. The finish is just so well balanced - great village wine. Drink from 2009. (created from a blend of several different parcels scattered around Puligny). A fruity and slightly sweet nose is trimmed in obvious wood and discreet citrus notes that can also be found on the round, rich, forward and nicely balanced if not especially elegant flavors that retain a good sense of balance on the crisp if slightly sweet finish. Perfectly good if not distinguished quality for its level. This is sufficiently accessible to be approachable now or it can certainly be cellared for another 1 to 3 years as personal preference dictates. 2010+ - 87 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound Price per case DP £373.05 - add to basket Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2006 Very mineral, almost chalky on the nose, with floral notes. Mineral intensity carries through on the palate, overlaid with creamy white peach fruit. A forceful and assertive wine with perfect oak balance and texture aligned to power. Long, clean mineral finish. Superb. Drink from 2010. (from vines planted in 1950 and 1951; Boillot noted that he was born in 1951) Aroma of orange oil and minerals. Densely built and intensely flavored but less fat and open to inspection than the Referts-a good thing in this vintage. Lively mineral and spice flavors carry through to the fairly firm finish. - 88-91 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 07 Price per case DP £578.67 - add to basket Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts 2006 A shy nose but in the mouth an explosion of peach fruit and touches of marzipan. Really quite rich and savoury, again with such clean and balancing acidity. Notes of ginger and honey emerge, this is really a complex brew! Lovely vitality and minerals on the finish. Drink from 2010. Superripe aromas of papaya, mango and nut oil. Very sweet, broad and fat, with a saline element; I find this just short of heavy. Ultimately a wine of good rather than outstanding depth, and a bit warm on the back end. Boillot told me his purchased Referts grapes were too ripe and high in alcohol. - 87-90 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 07 Price per case DP £578.67 - add to basket Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet 2006 A very showy mineral and flowery nose, really perfumed. On the palate perfectly defined and structured with benchmark stonefruit flavours and crisp acidity. Again nuances of stem ginger emerge. Superb dissolved vanilla oak notes really flesh out the wine and accentuate the spice notes. The finish is especially refined and long with a mineral twist. A really beautiful wine. Drink from 2010. A mildly wooded background serves to highlight slightly sweet aromas of primarily honeysuckle though there is a touch of spice present that continues onto the round, generous and lightly toasted middle weight flavors that retain reasonable detail on the acceptably long finish. This is certainly pretty but perhaps just a bit obvious and moreover, it seems to lack the coherency that I usually find with this normally excellent effort. 2009+ - 88 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound (from vines planted in 1950 and 1951; Boillot noted that he was born in 1951) Aroma of orange oil and minerals. Densely built and intensely flavored but less fat and open to inspection than the Referts-a good thing in this vintage. Lively mineral and spice flavors carry through to the fairly firm finish. - 88-91 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 07 Price per case DP £578.67 - add to basket Red Wines Pommard 2006 An enticing nose of dark forest fruits, leather and clove leading to a palate of suave, rounded tannins, suppleness and briary fruit. Earthy, natural and approachable this will drink well from 2009. Price per case DP £261.42 - add to basket Pommard 1er Cru Jarollières 2006 Spicy, expansive, lively and defined, this is a racy wine and certainly no shrinking violet. The tannins are really nicely toned and there is a terrific length of flavour on the finish. A little prickle of pepper runs through the wine and the overall package is very stylish and well-cut. Drink from 2011. Subtle but noticeable wood frames ripe and slightly somber earthy red berry fruit aromas that also reflect notes of underbrush and hint of game that is picked up by the rich, full and naturally sweet medium weight plus flavors that possess a lovely texture, indeed it’s almost silky on the round, forward and solidly long finish that displays the barest hint of austerity. This is already drinking well and while I would suggest 2 to 3 years of cellar time, it could easily be enjoyed after a year. 2011+ - 89 points, Allen Meadow's Burghound Price per case DP £402.42 - add to basket |
