For a seasoned campaigner such as Jean-Marc Boillot, the need for strict selection and careful vine husbandry during 2008 came as no great surprise. Sensing the threat of rot and the risk of underripeness early in the growing cycle, Boillot restricted yields severely with many cuvées coming out as low as 25 hl/ha. Always amongst the earlier harvesters, the team were again amongst the first, starting their work on 22nd September with the reds with the whites following on 25th. The results show the benefits of such willing sacrifice and will again bring great pleasure to the many followers of this domaine early in their life yet also giving the potential for extended bottle ageing for those who enjoy a more evolved style. A terrific bottle of 1994 Puligny Combettes, a difficult vintage for many, amply demonstrated the ability of the Domaine to produce the goods when nature throws down its challenges. The Wines White Montagny 1er Cru - £135 Puligny Montrachet - £295 Meursault Les Vireuils - £295 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Garenne - £520 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts - £520 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet - £520 Red Pommard - £225 Pommard 1er Cru Jarollières - £370 |
