Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc

Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc 2006

One of Wine Spectator's 2007 TOP 100 *

In 18 years, Mike Dobrovic has turned a neglected farm into one of South Africa's leading wineries. Grapes for this Chenin come from low-cropped bush vines in an estate vineyard in Stellenbosch with decomposed Malmesbury shale soils. About 80 percent of the wine was fermented in stainless steel; the remaining 20 percent was fermented and then aged for seven months in a mix of French, American and Hungarian oak. 7,265 cases made. - Wine Spectator's 2007 TOP 100

Superfresh and racy, with a great underlying minerality driving the chamomile, white peach and honeysuckle flavors, followed by a long, bright finish. Really delicious. Drink now through 2008. - 90 points, Wine Spectator
