armit Favourites - what the team is drinking now...
Welcome to the armit's Favourites list. We all love the wines we represent and want to tell you how much we love them! All prices quoted inc. duty and VAT unless otherwise stated.
Monteleccio 2008, Sesti
£179.88 per 12 - Buy
For everyday drinking, it is hard to beat the versatility of Sesti’s delicious Monteleccio. Soft in tannin, bright in fruit, it works served cool with a picnic lunch, goes down brilliantly with roasted fish, stands up to meats and sauces and never fails to lighten the mood! The perfect wine to always have on hand. Mike Laing - Buying and Private Client Sales Director
Seresin Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2008, Marlborough
£143.94 per 6 - Buy
A beautifully crafted limited edition Sauvignon which Seresin say is the future of Marlborough Sauvignon. Gorgeously scented with ripe gooseberry, mineral, citrus and delicate herb, the palate is rich yet restrained with bright ripe citrus fruit, lovely chalky minerality, and is textural and long. A seriously exciting and vivacious wine, that has a complexity other producers can only dream of. Phil Weeks, On Trade Sales Director
Gimonnet Cuis 1er Cru Brut NV x 6, Champagne
£170.70 per 6 - Buy
Elegant and complex with perfect balance. I have enjoyed many a glass of this fine Blanc du Blancs fizz over the summer months and as the nights draw in look forward to enjoying many more. Paul Richards, Reserves Supervisor
Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc 2009, Stellenbosch
£114.00 per 12 - Buy
Wonderful enticing notes of melon, pineapple, green apples and limes, a creamy texture as a result of light oak ageing, balanced with a refreshing acidity. The addition of a small amount of late harvest Chenin adds weight, complexity and richness. A must try! Jacqui Renirie, Private Client Sales
Guidalberto 2008, Tenuta San Guido
£182.28 per 6 - Buy
You expect great things from the second wine of Sassicaia and in 2008 your expectations are exceeded. I tasted this on its arrival in our cellars this month and have already bought some for myself. Wonderfully ripe berry fruit with a dash of spice and an intense concentrated finish (60% Cabernet Sauvignon/40% Merlot). You can drink this now or enjoy it as it evolves over the next six or seven years. I am certain I will not be able to resist opening my cases for long! Piers German, Private Client Sales
Gevrey Chambertin 2007, Domaine Fourrier
£341.04 per 12 Buy
Finding a good value red Burgundy that satisfies on weight, fruit and richness can be a real struggle which is why I keep turning back to this lovely village level wine from Jean-Marie Fourrier. A really inviting nose of black and red berry fruit backed by a palate that delivers concentrated flavours and a plump, silky mouthfeel rarely found at this price level. Delicious. Nick Palmer, Private Client Sales
Viña Arana 2001, La Rioja Alta
£239.88 per 12 - Buy
As the autumn weather approaches, I can think of nothing better than a glass of Viña Arana 2001 with its inviting bright cherry red appearance and incredibly soft nose of berry fruits and heady cinnamon and vanilla. Perfect with a delicious roast by the fire after a walk through the falling leaves. Lucy Marcuson - Marketing Manager
Le Serre Nuove 2007 x 6, Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia, Bolgheri
£192.59 per 6 - Buy
This is a wonderful, opulent, decadent wine with silky smooth tannins and rich creamy fruit! And what a great price for such pedigree.. Robbie Taylor, Trading
Sassicaia 1998, Tenuta San Guido
£2196.38 per 12 - Buy
Restrained elegant tannins intertwine with warm dark fruit and lovely smoked notes. A life affirming wine if that is such a thing! Edward Burns, Trading Director
Côtes du Rhône 2007, Domaine Charvin
£143.88 per 12 - Buy
A firm favourite from a great producer. Black cherries and blueberries, a touch of cream and a little spice. Lovely with shepherds pie, moussaka or a good chilli con carne! Victoria Oliver-Bellasis, Reserves Manager
Lunae Vermentino Colli di Luni DOC 2008, Liguria
£155.88 per case 12 - Buy
A newcomer to our list that we are extremely excited about. Beautifully crafted and perfectly balanced - it knocked my socks off…. Sara Faulkner - Buyer
Barrua 2006 Agricola Punica, Sardinia
£167.94 per case 6 - Buy
Gorgeously scented and fleshy with intense black fruit, licorice and dark chocolate aromas. The palate is similarly fleshy and ripe, beautiful poised and balanced, lovely extract, fresh acidity with a sumptuous black fruit, coffee and dark chocolate richness giving a long full flavoured finish. Superb. Phil Weeks - On Trade and Independent Sales Director
Hermitage 2004 x 6 Magnums, Domaine du Colombier
£399.79 per case 6 mags - Buy
No critic’s tasting note available but trust me this 2004 Rhône is a fabulous glass of wine and what is more this is the best price on the market. It is a joy to drink with beautifully ripe and concentrated dark fruit and a gorgeously intense finish. I found it dangerously drinkable at a restaurant recently and the adjoining table ordered it as well on tasting ours! I guarantee you will love it. Piers German - Private Client Sales
