Pascal Lachaux at Domaine Robert Arnoux 2006 Away from running Arnoux, Pascal continues to do a bit on the side but entirely to everyone’s approval. Small négociant operations like this have become very popular and competition for the best fruit is fierce. Fortunately, Pascal is clearly held in extremely high regard by his fellow growers and has once again assembled a mouthwatering selection of some of the greatest appellations. In many ways, he says he likes these 2006s more than the 2005s, finding them fruitier and fresher and even though he has a soft spot for the 2000s, he finds these even better. All prices are quoted Duty Paid. This celebrated cru gives rise to some of the most sensual and seductive wines in the Côte and this is clearly purring under Pascal’s gentle caress. Indulgent and exciting. Drink from 2011. Price per case in bond £400 per 6 - SOLD OUT Clos St Denis Grand Cru 2006 Open, opulent and fleshy, this shows little black fruits, abundant energy, a lick of creamy oak and a rather graceful finale. Drink from 2012. Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2006 A very aromatic nose of rose petal and a little spice gives way to a palate dominated by leather, rich plummy fruit and a terrific length of flavour. Clean, pure and with no rough edges, this is already showing quiet accomplishment. Drink from 2012. Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2006 Very impressive, this is Bonnes-Mares at its most exuberant. Bold, rich and brawny, this is a Grand Cru of an impressive scale but there is no sign of it coming off the rails, rather it is kept in check by a lovely persistent mineral thread running through it. Drink from 2014. Price per case in bond £480 per 6 - SOLD OUT Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2006 Black fruit, spice and fruit compote dominate the nose. The palate is dense, concentrated and energetic and on the beautiful clean, long finish, the class is there for all to see. Terrific. Drink from 2014. Price per case in bond £465 per 6 - SOLD OUT |
