For Christophe Roumier, electing the magic ingredient in 2008 took little time. “It was the three weeks of north and north-east wind” he said, as if absolving himself of any personal contribution to the brilliance of his wines. Once again, Christophe is characteristically modest and the health of his vines, the diligence of his selection and the precision of his wine making is there for all to see in these delectable wines. Harvest started here on 29th September and the wines share some of the crunchy red fruit seen in his 1997s, 2000s and 2006s at this stage but with brighter acidity and although there are no fears here that the wines will fade prematurely, Christophe for one won’t be waiting ten years to unearth their delights. Once again, these are bottles from the very top rank but with dramatically reduced yields, we ask for your patience in making allocations.
