Domaine Sauzet has been on a rich run of form in recent vintages with Gérard Boudot ably assisted by his daughter Emilie and son in law Benoît Riffault who comes from a fine winemaking background with a family domaine in Sancerre. The 2008 crop at Sauzet is a small one and as with Domaine Leflaive, they note many of the best characteristics of 2006 and 2007 in the wines. Harvesting began here on 23rd September and the spread of botrytis in some of the more precocious climats especially on the border with Meursault was halted by the arrival of the north wind which did so much to turn around the harvest. “There is something for everyone in this vintage” noted Benoît, who is sure that the wines will drink really well in their youth with the more senior cuvées clearly possessing enough matter for more extended cellaring.
