The Sigauts have always been committed vignerons and so it was no surprise to hear them explain in great detail of the care that they had taken in the vineyard, choosing to deleaf the east and north side of the vines in early summer to encourage ripening whilst the south facing leaves were removed later to promote greater aeration. Such careful work is time consuming and demanding but it is this approach, together with the considerable upgrade in their winemaking facilites and a re-examination of the process of winemaking that has enabled this domaine to move from also-ran to promising challenger to the establishment in the village.
