Very attractive crushed Summer-fruit aromas.  Very rich and textured in the mouth with lovely dark chocolate flavours.  The best Pontet Canet of recent vintages.  Drink 2010-2020.  92

Château Grand Puy Lacoste, 5ème Cru    
Fresh red fruit aromas are followed by a charming sweet attack of fruit on the palate.  Thick, chewy and powerful on the finish, with fine mineral definition.  One of the outstanding wines of the vintage.  Drink 2009-2020.  92

Château Lynch Bages, 5ème Cru     
Dark plum fruit with complex peppery overtones.  Very powerful fruit flavours with big, ripe structure of tannins.  Very persistent underlying fruit on the finish.  Drink 2010-2022.  92.

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, 2ème Cru 
Very ripe cherry fruit aromas with traces of smoke and spice.  Rich cedar fruit flavours with great concentration and weight on the palate.  Powerfully structured and very long lasting.  Drink 2010-2022.  92

Château Pichon Longueville Baron, 2ème Cru   
One of the classics of the vintage: pure black fruit aromas with an almost creamy quality.  Outstanding purity of fruit on the palate; soft, textured, ripe and elegant.  Perfectly harmonious tannins and very persistent finish.  Drink 2009-2022.  94

Very tight and dense Cabernet-fruit dominated nose.  Immensely powerful ripe fruit in the mouth underpinned by thick, unctuous tannins.  Superbly integrated and balanced, with a long finish dominated by fruit of exceptional ripeness and power.  A wine of remarkable depth and concentration.  One of the greatest 2003s.  Drink 2012-2030.  98
