Romain Taupenot was another who refers to 2008 as a ‘miracle’ vintage and thanks to the change in weather he was able to harvest from 23rd September with a smile firmly on his face. He noted that acidity levels were as high as in 1996 but that the young 2008s showed greater concentration and tension. He also sees the cooler temperatures of the growing season as a bonus in preserving polyphenols far better than with a hot year. As the wines develop in the cellar, he continues to be very pleased by the results, noting the attractiveness of the fruit but also the greater structure of the wines which he believes will allow them to age very well. This excellent Domaine continues to make progress and it is a delight to see the precision that Romain has now brought to the wines here.
